About

Childcare Subsidy

On 2 July 2018 the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) replaced the Child Care Benefit (CCB) and Child Care Rebate (CCR). The Child Care Subsidy is paid directly to services to be passed onto families.

Three things determine a family’s level of Child Care Subsidy:

  • A family’s combined annual adjusted taxable income determines the percentage of subsidy they are eligible for

  • An activity test determines how many hours of subsidised care families can access per fortnight, up to a maximum of 100 hours

  • The type of child care service determines the hourly rate cape

Every family must be registered on myGov and complete a Child Care Subsidy assessment. To be eligible to receive CCS you will be required to have a MyGov account linked to Centrelink.

Through MyGov you are able to complete a Child Care Subsidy assessment.

If you don’t have a MyGov account, you can register here.

For more information on how your level of CCS is determined, follow this link.

Annual

Subsidy Cap

For most families, there will no longer be an annual cap on the amount of subsidy you can receive making child care more affordable for most families.

Child Care

Subsidy Payments

Child Care Subsidy is paid directly to the centre providing care for your child based on your child’s attendance records. There will no longer be an option to have the subsidy paid directly to you.
